Scotland – training for social landlords
At a time of unprecedented change, providers of social housing in Scotland need to ensure their staff and committees are aware of the demands faced by their organisations, and that they have appropriate plans in place. At a time of unprecedented change, providers of social housing in Scotland need to ensure their staff and committees are aware of the demands faced by their organisations, and that they have appropriate plans in place.
The Scottish Government and the Scottish Housing Regulator expect organisations to develop robust business, risk management and scenario plans, which reflect the challenges facing the sector. These include funding cuts, welfare and housing benefit reform, reduced development funding, the Scottish Social Housing Charter, and much more.
When developing their plans organisations often struggle to involve their staff and committee memberseffectively during the initial stages where the aims, objectives and overall vision are identified – this is increasingly important in today’s climate where organisations are reviewing all elementsof their business to ensure that they are able to thrive and survive.
HQN, with Stuart Eglinton, can assist with the organisation and facilitation of business planning and internal management planning days, staff and committee away days, tenant conferences, etc, building on our previous success in this field.
Stuart Eglinton is a highly experienced trainer who works with board, committee and staff members of RSLs and local authorities across Scotland. After working in affordable housing for 15 years he has a broad knowledge of the movement, and has supported organisations in governance, equal opportunities and tenant participation. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a qualified governance assessor. His training is enjoyable, participative, and tailored to the needs of each organisation.
“Our committee away day was a huge success and Stuart was instrumental in that day. We only gave him two weeks to organise it, but he produced an excellent day which the committee found very enjoyable and informative."
“Throughout the day the staff and committee were fully engaged, and had the opportunity to discuss a range of challenges facing the organisation and start the process of identifying key objectives which will inform our future plans.”
“All individuals involved participated enthusiastically in this process and this piece of work will assist the organisation to shape our internal management plan and future direction.”
