Environmental Protection Act Part IIA
With continued pressure on the re-use of land, there is a need to appreciate that previously-used land may have an industrial legacy that needs to be addressed before the land will be safe to use. This event explores the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act and current guidance in relation to assessing potentially contaminated land and how this can be dealt with to allow the land to be safely re-used.
This practical and informative workshop explores the legislation and guidance that deals with land contamination issues, the public health concerns and how land contamination is managed.

- Contaminated land legislation and guidance: overview of the legislation, the role of agencies that will be involved, and where to find relevant guidance
- Significant Potential of Significant Harm: the test used to determine whether land is contaminated or not and how this is determined
- Case studies: practical examples of investigations and their outcomes
- Management: through planning processes and remediation.
Our trainer
Tony Draper is an experienced senior housing manager who has been involved in working with a range of professionals on investigations into contaminated land sites. He has advised councils on their approach to communication, and is a regular speaker at Health Protection Agency and King’s College, London, training events.
